Simple test. Low data sample.
Does two-footedness improve GpM rate for strikers?
432 strikers in Voller appearances 7+.
# observations - Preferred foot - Average GpM
13 - Either - 0.22
35 - Left - 0.25
199 - Right Only - 0.28
166 - Right - 0.28
19 - Left Only - 0.30
Conclusion is that two-footedness does not help. But the disclaimer is that the sample size is low and the variation is high due to the low number of appearances.

Are you monitoring where the guys are playing too?
ReplyDeleteNot really Rik. The problem is that there is no way to get more details than that their natural position is striker.
ReplyDeleteI would have to look into each single player/team stats then, and that's an awful lot of work! :)
Sure. :) I just wondered how much affect it would have playing a Left Only on the right-central position, whether using the cut inside tactic/not and whether it makes much difference having one of each.
ReplyDeleteYeah. Good point. I've always wanted to know that myself too. I'll see what I can do when the season gets underway. Shouldn't take too long to manually check some of the left footers whether they play on the right or left hand side.. Or the right footers for that matter.
ReplyDeleteThe challenge is to gather enough data to make the observation significant enough.
